Description
In the DRC, blood transfusion is the second mean of HIV transmission after sexual intercourses. Most of the blood donors in Kinshasa are family members, volunteer’s donors or occasional blood sellers. This study aimed to highlight the presence of HIV antibodies volunteer donors in the churches of the city of Kinshasa. This cross-sectional study submitted 607 volunteer blood donors, aged 18 to 65, attending Catholic churches to serological testing for HIV. Pregnant women or lactating were not included. The immuno-hematological and serological tests were used for blood analysis.
